As a leading public health care organization in New York City, VNSNY is dedicated and obligated to lead by example. Whether it’s the care and safety of our patients and health plan members, our employees, business associates, or our incredibly generous family of donors and event supporters, we must think first and foremost of what is best for these beloved and respected groups of individuals.
While we had hoped that conditions would have improved enough to return to large, indoor in-person events, we feel there are still too many uncertainties. Our commitment remains to the health and well-being of all New Yorkers, all the time.
To that end, we are making the difficult decision not to hold the VNSNY 2021 Benefit in person. Instead, we will pivot to a virtual experience with a pre-recorded video.
Over the past 18 months, VNSNY provided vital care for more than more than 6,500 COVID-19 patients in their homes — care that proved critical in alleviating the strain on New York’s hospital systems and nursing homes. In its role as a public health responder during the pandemic, which also included vaccinating thousands of its own staff and homebound New York City residents, VNSNY upheld our steadfast, 128-year mission of caring for New Yorkers in need.
The 2021 Benefit will feature the presentation of the Lillian D. Wald Award to Adam S. Boehler, Founder and CEO of Rubicon Founders, and to Emily and John Rafferty. Emily is President Emerita of The Metropolitan Museum of Art and John is a Member and Former Chair of the Board of VNSNY. The award, named after the public health pioneer and founder of VNSNY, is presented each year in recognition to those who have made significant contributions to the health and welfare of others.
